Kennedy Foley’s journey with epilepsy started early in life at the age of just 5 years old. Now at 18, Kennedy has managed to treat the majority of her seizures with medication and has strived to take on any challenge or goal that has come her way! Kennedy is not only our 1 in 26 for this month, but she is also one of EFNENY’s College Scholarship winners for the year 2022. Kennedy is attending the College of St. Rose this fall with the intention of studying Early Childhood Education.
Kennedy is specifically proud of having maintained Honor Roll and Principal’s List throughout High School as well as becoming a Scholar-Athlete for both swimming and bowling. Kennedy was additionally awarded the Most Improved Swimmer for Albany High Varsity Swim Team and the Most Improved Bowler for the Albany High Bowling Team. In her free time Kennedy was also an assistant coach for girls’ basketball that won the championship in the area. With all of her experience, Kennedy is hoping to one day “find a way to help kids learn sports and skills that they are interested in.”
This past summer Kennedy worked as a Camp Counselor and was very excited to start college this fall to “see what is out there for her”.
Most importantly, Kennedy would like others to know that “even though epilepsy has made things a little more difficult, it is not the only thing that matters. I did very well in high school academically because I worked very hard.”
