February 1 in 26- Meet Liam Fusco

Liam has faced multiple challenges in his 10 years of life. What started with a 7-minute-long seizure in May of 2021, turned into a diagnosis of epilepsy.

Despite facing these health challenges, Liam’s spirit remained resilient and strong. With the support of his family and dedicated medical professionals at Albany Medical Center, Four Seasons Pediatrics, and Boston Children’s’ Hospital, he bravely faced each day with courage and determination. As he navigated through the uncertainties of his diagnosis, Liam’s bright smile and positive attitude continued to inspire those around him.

Liam’s diagnosis has not defined him; rather, it has helped him spread awareness about epilepsy and allows him to serve as an inspiration to become a young advocate for epilepsy awareness.

Today, now 10 years old, Liam has been seizure-free for nearly a year!

Liam is an active member of The Epilepsy Foundation of Northeastern New York’s (EFNENY) Kids Crew, regularly attends foundation events, and encourages his community to join the fight to end epilepsy.

Each year, Liam and his family actively participate in and walk in the Saratoga “Walk to End Epilepsy”; taking strides alongside fellow supporters and individuals affected by epilepsy.

Liam continues to set his goals high. In the next month, Liam wants to learn to tie his shoes and aspires to be famous in the future!

Liam’s overall sense of determination, along with his devotion to Kids Crew and EFNENY, is what helped lead to his selection as one of our two Winning Kids for 2024. Liam will be honored at our 36th Anniversary Confections in Chocolate Gala this April. He will be recognized at the Gala for Hope alongside his co- Winning Kid, Khrystian Benoit on April 20th at Old Daley on Crooked Lake in Averill Park.

What Liam Wishes Others to Know About Epilepsy: “It’s like an earthquake in your brain that you cannot control and is not your fault.”
