Hailey Scheinman joined the Epilepsy Foundation of Northeastern New York (EFNENY) team in September 2024 as the Marketing Communications and Special Events Intern.
Hailey is currently a sophomore at the University of Central Florida where she studies Nonprofit Management. She is set to graduate in May 2027.
“When I saw this internship opportunity, I knew it could be a perfect mix of both a cause that has always been close to my heart and a way to combine my interests.”, Hailey shared.
Hailey has had a connection to epilepsy her entire life. Her twin sister Livy was born with epilepsy and has dealt with seizures all her life. Since Livy’s diagnosis, the Scheinman family got involved with the Epilepsy Foundation of America, creating both the Lemonade for Livy event and Kids Crew programs.
Hailey felt she had always loved creativity and meaningful storytelling. Upon starting college, she discovered a calling toward a career path involving nonprofits. Hailey realized her creativity could be used to serve a community she is passionate about helping through marketing.
When asked about what her favorite part about interning with EFNENY has been, Hailey shared that she enjoys having the freedom to brainstorm, the opportunity to hone her graphic design skills and to learn more about marketing across a wide variety of topics.
“In general, I feel that I have been encouraged to try a lot of new things involving web design, blog writing, and event preparation. I am glad to be continuing with EFNENY this semester!” Hailey shared.
Hailey considers herself an “ideas person”, really enjoying the process of conceptualizing a design and seeing a project transform from start to finish.
Hailey hopes to pursue a career where she can know that her role serves others and makes a positive impact, whether she continues to work in disability related areas or pursue other interests such as environmentalism or education. She wishes to feel that what she does matters. Hailey is excited to continue to grow her skills within the marketing and communications field!
Alongside her goals for her future and career, Hailey hopes to strive toward personal growth and place focus on becoming a better cook and continuing to try out new forms of art. Hailey shared with us that a fun fact about herself is that she loves to paint!
“I painted a lot when I was little, and I auctioned some of my art to raise funds for my sister’s physical therapies.” Hailey stated.
Hailey mentioned that she took a step away from painting to try out other forms of art, but since beginning college, she has rediscovered a passion for it.
The EFNENY is so excited to have Hailey as apart of the team. Her creativity is never ending and her attention to detail is greatly appreciated. We are excited to see the impact Hailey leaves on the world in her future. Thank you for all that you do, Hailey!
